Bird Flu Outbreak Colorado

Bird Flu detected on Colorado Poultry Farm

Five workers test positive

Nearly 18 million chickens to be culled

Five cases of bird flu have been identified among workers culling poultry at a farm in northeast Colorado, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment reported late Sunday.

The sickened Colorado workers announced over the weekend doubled the number of US Human cases since agricultural workers began testing positive in April.

Nearly 18 million chickens will be killed after bird flu was detected at an egg-laying operation in Weld County, a major resurgence of the virus that has devastated poultry farms across the country.

The Weld County outbreak is the first at a commercial facility in Colorado since February and only the second since December 2022.
